Community Use of Dogwood’s Outdoor Spaces
Dogwood Elementary is the only Knox County public school located within Lindbergh Forest Neighborhood. It is a Community School.
Dogwood Elementary’s playing field, playgrounds, and nature trail are the property of Knox County Schools. In true Community Schools spirit, Dogwood Elementary shares its outdoor spaces with the surrounding neighborhoods when students are not present.
To keep students safe, these spaces are closed to the public whenever school is in session. This includes during after-school and summer-school programming. After-school hours are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays until 6:00 pm. Summer school is held the first two weeks of June until 3:00 pm.
When school is in session, bikers and hikers are welcome to use the Community Entrance of the Dogwood Trail to cut through to Lippencott Park as long as there are no students using the trail. You must enter via the Community Entrance off of Gerson Dr. when school is in session.
Dogwood Elementary Community School is happy to share our spaces with the community! We appreciate you respecting and considering our students’ safety. You may contact the Community School’s site coordinator for any questions or concerns regarding the shared spaces (865)-579-5677 ext. 24407.
